Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertall | Review

Leah on the Offbeat is the wonderfully snarky but fluffy young adult book I've been waiting for.
Earlier this year, I read Love, Simon for the first time. It quickly became one of my favourite books. I fell in love with every expected of this book but I was left wanting more. Especially more Leah and more of her relationship with Abby!!

It picked up where Love, Simon left off, giving us an update on the characters we came to love. But with a new set of eyes and a whole new situation, this book felt so fresh.

I think I felt so connected to this book because of the topic. Leah (and co.) are all getting ready to go to university (or college if you’re American), just like me. It was so nice to see a character I could connect to so much voice the same woes and excitements that I’ve had going through the same experiences.

This is such a light, feel-good book. It hits you right in the heart. Especially when it comes to Abby and Leah. I have been shipping these two for a while so it was nice to finally see them interact one on one and see exactly what Leah is thinking!

Although this is a very fun book, it touches upon some tough topics that many young people can connect to; body image, feeling alone, financial troubles, racism. But all and all, this book teaches to just love yourself and the skin you’re in. It’s a real mood lifter.

Leah on the Offbeat is the sarcastic but fluffy YA book I’ve been waiting for. It did it’s processor proud and went above and beyond. It’s definitely a must read.
