From in-depth looks into the online industry and interviews with all different kinds of YouTube personalities to conspiracy theories. They've done it all.
Podcasts are officially taking over. But with hundreds of new podcasts popping up each day and with each one having more episodes than you can count, it can be hard to know which podcast to settle. That’s where I can help. Over the next few weeks, I’m going to be sharing some of my favourite podcasts and their best episodes!
First up we have JaackMaate’s Happy Hour!
By the name, you can tell that Jack Dean, of the YouTube channel JaackMaate, hosts this podcast but he’s not in it alone. He’s joined by friend Stevie White
While the show brands itself as being a ‘podcast hosted by YouTubers, about YouTubers’, you don’t need to be a fan of their channels to enjoy this. Heck, you don’t even need to be too clued up on YouTube the guys’ banter and conspiracy episodes will keep you entertained.
To be honest, when I started listening to this podcast, I only knew who Jack was but now I’ve been exposed to some great new channels which are only added to by some of their amazing YouTube guests.
This is a chilled out, funny show, that feels like you’re just apart of a conversation with friends. It’s a great podcast to just throw on when you’re on your way somewhere and will normally have me trying to hold in a giggle on the bus.
The best thing about Happy Hour is that you can dip in and out. You don’t have to have to listen to every single episode, you can just choose episodes that look interesting to you at the time. Although, after a while, you’ll find yourself listening to most episodes just for a chuckle and the chemistry of the hosts.
That being said, I’m going to give you my best episode to dip your toe into the world of Happy Hour and before you know it you’ll be listening to an interview from a YouTuber you’ve never even heard of just because it’s Happy Hour.
This episode saw the Happy Hour gang interview YouTube manager and while I’m not too interested in KSI, it was really interesting hearing from someone behind the camera and hearing how YouTube business works. Would really recommend a listen for those interested in how YouTube works or those within the media industry.
This was possibly one of the most heartwrenching episodes to date. It really showed the power YouTube has and how it can help turns someone's life around.
Perhaps my favourite episode of all time. Taking a break from their usual format, they dive into some bizarre yet plausible conspiracies. This is the episode I recommend that everyone, no matter your YouTube interests, watch.
The future of the Happy Hour podcast looks bright with a planned week full of spooky specials the week of Halloween. I can't wait to see how this podcast develops further.
