The Riverdale Syndrome | Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Review

While Sabrina isn't anything new from the outside, what came out of this series was special but it runs the risk of falling to the same fate as its sister show, Riverdale.

Based upon the dark and twisted comic series of the same name, Netflix's Sabrina is a satanic, witch show with the same typical teen drama. However, the more known version of Sabrina Spellman was not the gritty source material but the fun, camp and slightly cringe kids show Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

The majority of this shows audience grew up with a different teenage witch and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina reinvented what we knew about Sabrina, which is a hard task. Traditionally, if you take something from an audience's childhood and completely twist it, you don’t get a good reaction (see: Ghostbusters, The Mummy, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and more) but this new dark look was welcomed with open arms.

Yet the main reason it was met with such praise is that despite the teen tropes and the stereotypical satanic rituals, it was fun to watch and,  most importantly, it. was. good.

Cheerleader Song and Dance
It was almost impossible to believe that this quirky show was only set a few miles away from the mess that is Riverdale. This show had a good plot and kept up with its promises.

From season 1 to 2 of Sabrina, you are hooked. You can’t look away and you’re on the edge of your seat. But then something… happened.

The Sabrina crew hung about with the Riverdale crew and caught the curse. And so the downfall of Sabrina has begun.

It starts with singing every single episode, spreads to unnecessary cheerleaders and dramatic love triangles, massive plot points that might not be too thought out in the long run, and eventually, the shock will come before the story.

I am so sorry Sabrina. You deserved better. I just hope Netflix and conjure up a cure soon now that your coven is restored.
