The end of 2017 is near so it is time to wrap it up by giving recognition to the best films of the year. This year has seen a lot of great films but these were my favourites.
This film is a heartwarming and truly hilarious film based on a true story. The Big Sick follows Emily and Kumail at the start of their relationship but things soon turn south when Emily falls into a coma and Kumail has to choose between his own feelings and his religious family's wishes.
This is by far one the funniest films I have seen this year. I love when films can take serious moments and bring out the light in them.
4. Molly's Game
This biopic is about the story of Molly Bloom, skier turned 'Poker Princess', on her way to the top of the poker game and also her untimely fall.
Molly's Game went above and beyond all my expectations, I loved this film. I found the story of Molly Bloom, who I had never heard of before, so fascinating. This film had some amazing performances in the shapes of Jessica Chastain and Idris Elba.
3. Hidden Figures
Hidden Figures follows the amazing story of three African-American women, Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson, who were the brains behind Nasa's operation to send the first American astronaut into orbit.
This film looks stunning and performances will give you goosebumps throughout. It is an incredibly inspirational, compelling and important film that I think everyone needs to watch. Everybody should know these women's names and stories as they were crucial to America's stance in the space race and to space travel.
2. Wonder Woman
This is the origin story of Diana Prince on her way to becoming a superhero. She leaves her home behind to go fight in a war and protect those who cannot protect themselves. Diana discovers not only who she truly is but what the world is really like.
Seeing a superhero movie that was not only about a woman but also directed by one meant to much to me. This film gave a new perspective this the superhero story and also gave thousands of little girls everywhere a new hero to look up to.

IT follows the story of seven young 'losers' from Derry who have to face their worst nightmares, in the form of Pennywise the Dancing Clown. Every 27 years Pennywise preys on the children of Derry but this time the 'loser club' are out to stop him.
I hate horror films so my enjoyment of this film was a complete shock. IT is a surprisingly very funny and heart-warming movie but the thing that truly made me love IT was the performances of the young actors, they were incredible. Not just in the dramatic scenes but also the comedic timing they all had was fantastic.
Honourable Mentions:
Dunkirk.
Although it didn't make the top five list, it was still an outstanding film that I urge everyone to see!
Spider-Man: Homecoming.
As a huge Spider-Man and Tom Holland fan, this film was super exciting for me. Although it may a retelling of the same story, this film managed to grasp the true ascents of Peter Parker past films were unable to.
