Massive Waterstones Book Haul

Last week, I was invited to my first ever blogger event at Deansgate Waterstones! This event was actually in partnership with HarperCollins!

The purpose of this event was to get bloggers in the Manchester area to just get together and get to know each other. As well as meeting other bloggers, we got to choose from a wide range of books to take home for FREE!! We were also given a cute HarperCollins tote bag and inside was lots of different bookmarks and a proof copy of Editing Emma by Chloe Seager. I have been dying to get my hands on this book ever since I heard about it. This book will be out on the 10th of August.

Now onto the books I picked up from the massive pile of free books.

The first book I picked up was Contagion by Teri Terry. This book is the first book in a trilogy by Terry. This book has been catching my eye for a while so I'm glad I finally got a chance to pick it up. Not only is this book a beauty (red pages people!) but it sounds so interesting. This book follows a boy named Kay who's sister, Callie, has gone missing. He starts to lose hope in ever finding her until he meets someone who says they saw his sister the night she went missing...

The next book I got was an uncorrected proof copy of Beneath the Skin by Caroline England. This book is about a girl named Antonia who has a terrible and dark secret. If you are going to pick up this book be aware that it could be triggering as self-harm was mentioned in the blurb.
Beneath the Skin is set to come out on the 5th of October.

Another uncorrected proof copy I was able to pick up was The Deviants by C.J. Skuse. This book is actually already out so what are you waiting for? Go pick it up.
The Deviants is a dark story, full of secrets. When Max's older sister is murdered, a group of five friends who seemed inseparable part ways. Now time has passed, the five are brought back together to enact revenge on those who have wronged them most.

Yet another proof copy I picked up was Soot by Andrew Martin, which is already out. This book jumped out at me because it is about a murdered artist and if you can't already tell from the previous books, I love a good story about a murder and a terrible secret. Although this book is different, it is set on York in 1799. This book already seems like no other book I have read before.

The next book I took home with me was Liberty by Andrea Portes. This book is about a teenage spy whose journalist parents have gone missing and it's up to her to find them. Liberty is jam-packed with government secrets, romance, missing parents and spies.

Oh look it is another proof copy! This book is Friend Request by Laure Marshall and this book came out in July. Friend Request is about a girl named Louise who gets a friend request on Facebook from Maria, the only problem is Maria has been dead for twenty-five years.

Another book I picked up was a proof copy of Skin Town by Ciaran McMenamin, which was published in April. This book is about Vinny, a boy who is completely unsatisfied with life. The thing that really hooked me to this book was the quote on the back.
‘We’re in the back of a car belonging to the men our mothers told us to never get in the back of a car of. I close my eyes and wonder how many girls will come to my funeral.’

The next book I picked up was Yesterday by Felicia Yap, which is an uncorrected proof copy and comes out on August 1st.  Yesterday is about a woman is who is only able to remember yesterday so when the police knock on her door and tell her that her husband killed his mistress two days ago, she doesn't know who to trust.

Now onto the hard covers! The first hardcover I picked up was Spook Street by Mick Herron. This is actually the fourth in the Slough House series so I'll have to pick the first three before I can delve into this book.

The next and final book I picked up was Here and Gone by Haylen Beck. This is a crime book about a woman named Audra who has finally left her abusive husband but when Audra and her children are looking for a place to stay a police car pulls her over, turning her escape to a nightmare.

Thank you for sticking with me and reading this very long book haul. Let me know in the comments if you've read any of these books and maybe you can help me decide which one to read first!

I have more book hauls over on my YouTube Channel:

*Although I was given these books for free I am not obligated to share them and all opinions are my own.
